No matter what style you wear or how you wear it, the colours you choose represent a lot about who you are. We are all naturally drawn to particular shades depending on how we feel ,the time of year and maybe where we are going. So what does you bikini say about you? Well lets take the multiple colours of swimwear into consideration, and there are hundreds of them, patterns too. But if you are like me I am guessing that you lean on a particular shade to compliment your look or make you feel a certain way. Here is an insight into what the colours of Abbie Curtis could possibly mean to the wearer.

Our Mya and Chloe bikinis both come in a gorgeous fuchsia pink with statement embellishments in gold to give that luxurious and glamorous edge. This is a rich pink of elegance and the fabric has our signature shimmer for its Italian weave and expense. So what does it mean to wear our pink collection? Well, the colour pink represents compassion, nurturing and love. It relates to unconditional love and understanding, and the giving and receiving of nurturing. Pink is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring colour. It tones down the physical passion of red replacing it with a gentle loving energy. For me it is feminine and pure, our Mya & Chloe set gives that maturity to the design with the heavy gold body jewellery representing wealth and class.

Pink can also remind you of earlier childhood memories, associated with nurturing and comfort from your mother or a mother figure. Choose our beautiful Italian pink range in our bikinis or one-peice sets at https://www.abbiecurtis.com/shop/

Blue is a very popular colour in the summertime, it is representative of the ocean, the skies and peace which is what we are all looking for from our summer vacation. Blue represents authority, structure, communication, dependability, trust and loyalty. Some shades or too much blue can project coldness. Wear blue when you want to exude power, have mental control, be conservative, respected or communicate an important message. Don’t wear blue when you feel isolated, depressed, critical.

This is a colour that reduces stress, creating a sense of calmness, relaxation and order – we certainly feel a sense of calm if we lie on our backs and look into a bright blue cloudless sky. It slows the metabolism. The paler the blue the more freedom we feel. Blue clothing colours indicate freshness, peace and loyalty. Sometimes conceited, this personality type, especially men, tends to be witty and sarcastic. Women who like blue clothing colours often wish to portray an air of mystery along with intense appeal and sense of fashion. When wanting to feel like commanding attention on the beach choose blue to show you are in control while portraying calm, truth, confidence and security.

Blue is the colour of the sky and sea, you can find our blue collection within our Sierra and Chloe range with statement gold chest and hip jewellery to set of the shimmering Italian blue fabric for that regal look on the sand https://www.abbiecurtis.com/shop/

How does the colour purple make you feel? People often describe this colour as mysterious, spiritual, and imaginative. Purple tends to occur rarely in nature, so it is viewed as rare and intriguing. For this reason I chose to include it in my collection, I really love this colour and it appeals to me for its royal associations which you may read more on in my previous blog post on the colour right here https://www.abbiecurtis.com/styling/colour-purple-associated-royalty/ Basically, purple is the symbol of royalty and wealth. In ancient times, creating dyes to colour fabric often required a great deal of effort and expense, especially for certain colours. Because purple is less common in nature, the resources needed to create a dye in this colour were much more hard to come by and much more costly. For this reason, the colour purple became associated with wealth and royalty because very often the rich were the only individuals who could afford such expensive items.

Just like other colours, there are different shades of purple and they can all have different meanings. Light purple has a feminine energy, bright purple is linked with richness and royalty, and dark purple can be associated with sadness and frustration. I use bright purple that shimmers under sunlight for my Sierra collection. Purple is only used with this design because I think a lot of gold goes very well with this colour and hints to its regal backgrounds using the heavy oversized ovals featured on both top and bottom of Sierra. This set is for a woman of mystery, with a feminine vibe and a free spirit, a gypsy girl of love and light. When I send out orders to customers choosing this colour I imagine them to be quite fun to be a little quirky. You can order Sierra here  https://www.abbiecurtis.com/shop/sierra-bikini-top/

Black can have a different symbolic meaning for everyone and every individual can have a different reaction to the colour. In Feng Shui black has a way of harmonising your home, office, and other environments. It can be associated with the water elements and evokes power, mystery, and calm. It even can have a grounding effect when it is used sparingly. People who like black may be conventional, conservative and serious, or they may think of themselves as being sophisticated or very dignified. Affluent and success orientated women often choose black as it can give an impression of elegance, sophistication and confidence.

The colour black has some powerful effects and can be associated with a sophisticated lifestyle, just think of a person wearing a little black dress or a formal dinner suit. Black is also associated with depression because it can close in on use and take the positive aspects out of life, pushing us towards disappointment and the black or negative aspects of out life. I disagree with this view and personally I love to wear black, it is a dominant colour and for me very easy to wear and goes well with everything.

The positive traits of black include protection and comfort, as well as, strong, contained, formal, sophisticated, seductive, mysterious, endings and beginnings. With negative traits being aloof, depressing, pessimistic, secretive, and withholding. I have recently released my popular Esmaya swimsuit in black which also doubles up as a body suit to be worn in the day or evening depending on how you choose to style it. Because of the open-back and classy plunging neckline this design makes any day or night an elegant affair. Made in luxurious Italian silky weave you can wear this with most other fabrics including denim for a fashion contrast from rugged to soft. Find our Esmaya black swimsuit here https://www.abbiecurtis.com/shop/esmaya-swimsuit/

Grey is a cool, neutral, and balanced colour. The colour grey is an emotionless, moody colour that is typically associated with meanings of dull, dirty, and dingy, as well as formal, conservative, and sophisticated. Think 50 Shades character Christian Grey and this pretty much sums it up, which is why they probably named him Mr. Grey! Light greys are feminine in nature, while dark greys are masculine in nature. We use shimmering Italian light grey fabric in our Esmaya and Mya design for this reason, and it is a timeless, practical colour.

If this is your favourite colour, you maybe neutral about life, often to the point of being indifferent. You are practical and calm, you do not like to attract attention and are simply seeking a contented life. With grey as your favourite colour, you are the middle of the road type, cool, conserved, composed and reliable. But for those of you who like that classy, edgy vibe on vacation this is the colour for you. It compliments most other colours by bringing an element of conservative and tradition to your personality and look. I love to pair grey with pinks of any shade, and I add silver to make the combination feel a little more playful with dangling pendant jewellery, bangles and rings. Silver jewellery with my Esmaya swimsuit has always been a favourite, see the look right here https://www.abbiecurtis.com/shop/esmaya-swimsuit/
